Beschrijving
This table expresses the use of renewable energy for heating and cooling as gross final consumption of energy. Renewable energy is energy from natural sources such as the sun, the earth, heat from outdoor air and biomass, that is replenished constantly. Figures are presented in an absolute way, as well as related to the total energy use for heating and cooling in the Netherlands and are broken down by energy source and technique. This table focuses on the share of renewable energy according to the revised EU Renewable Energy Directive (RED III), article 23. The figures for the period 1990-2024 (calculated according to RED I & II) can be found in the dataset ’Renewable energy; consumption by energy source, technology and application (1990-2024)’. A link to this table can be found in section 3 of this table explanation.
The total gross final energy consumption for heating and cooling in the Netherlands (the denominator used to calculate the percentage of renewable heating and cooling per 'Energy sources and techniques') can be found in the table as 'Total renewable heating and cooling, including non-renewables'.

When will new figures be published? Provisional figures in broad outlines for the previous year are published each year in June.
In November all figures for the previous year will be published. These figures remain revised provisional, definite figures appear in November two years after the reporting year.
